I take this opportunity to introduce you to a manufacture based in Germany that produces superb musical instruments for the brass players of the world.

Gábor contacted the Manufacture 3 years ago and he brought the first F-tube, as well as the first euphonium.

It was last year when the Quartet first visited Waldkraiburg, the place where the manufacture is situated. Christian Braun (in the stripy shirt), Marketing Manager of the Manufacture (with whom we suceessfully drank quite a few glasses of beer), gave us a tour of the factory. We were extremely impressed by the precision and the meticulous method of production of these instruments from a compact bullion of cupper-alloy.

Everything is produced in situ by the manufacture. They have a special machine that was engineered by the Manufacture for its own purposes before the WW2 and is still in use today. As Jens is a mechanical engeneer, he was able to enjoy an in-depth look into the professional work of the Manufacture, about which he was very appreciative.

During our visit we were able to witness how raw materials were transformed into wonderful deep-brass wing. It became clear now why a tuba costs more than €10 000.

Miraphone is superior among the low brass. The bariton, tenor tuba and euphonium models are by far the best brass instruments. (We cannot say anything about the other instruments as we have not tried them out.) But the walls of the trial room of the Manufacture are full of posters of Czech, Austrian and German wind bands that boast a wide, if not a complete, range of wind instruments ranging from trumpets to B-flat bass tubas. This is perhaps not by mere chance.
